Credit Recovery

Students who did not pass 1st semester of their 9th grade course are eligible to take the Credit Recovery class.  Starting in 9th grade all core classes are required for high school graduation in the state of Texas.  Students who do not take advantage of this credit recovery opportunity will still be required to retake their core class at some other time before graduation.  See other important information below:

Credit recovery will be offered through Edgenuity. Students are recommended to attend the in-person sessions but may work asynchrounsly.  There will be mandatory in - person dates as well as a check in date. Please see the flyer sent home from your counselor for these dates and more information.

Cost:  $20.00 (non-refundable - cash or check, payable to Central Junior High).  Tuition for traditional 

        summer school is $155.00 per class.  

Payment due on or by the first day of class. Payment preferred online. If needing to pay in cash, please see Ms. Love in the counseling office.

Seats are limited.  Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.


Please note there is one google form per course. Counselors will walk students requiring credit recovery through the sign up process.

Other credit recovery guidelines


1. Students can have only 1 excused absence during mandatory instructional times.  Students will be dismissed with no refund on the 2nd absence.  Two tardies equal one absence. One unexcused absence will result in dismissmal with no refund or credit awarded.

*On the check in date if student has not completed the specified requirements at a score of 75% or higher - they will be required to attend the rest of the in-person sessions!

  

2. Students must follow the same discipline rules as a regular school day.  Students can be dismissed for 

        behavioral issues.  No refunds issued.


3. No credit will be awarded if a student does not complete the course.  The student will have to repeat the 

        course either through summer school or 10th grade to meet graduation requirements.


4. The .5 credit earned in credit recovery will be included in earned credits for 9th grade.  Students must earn a 

        minimum of 5 credits to promote to 10th grade.


5. Credit recovery also serves as preparation for the End-of-Course Exam.
