Students at Bedford JH were able to safely observe the solar eclipse on Monday afternoon. They were released to their observation stations a few minutes before the totality of the eclipse and remained observing the event for several minutes afterward. Viewing the event through their safety glasses students and teachers alike were amazed at the beautiful and spectacular event.

Last semester students created 3D print projects using an online CAD program. Unfortunately technical problems with the printers kept the students from printing their projects. This week and last week we were able to get the 3D Printers online and working for the students to get to see how a 3D print can be made. It was a long wait but now students have a keepsake project that demonstrates their CAD skills. They have been waiting patiently and have been excited ever since we have started printing them out.
For the THIRD year in a row, Bedford Theatre took 1st place at the LDB One Act Play Competition on Saturday for their performance of The Invasion of Earth as it Began in Grover's Mill, New Jersey! (Just in time for the eclipse!)

Bedford Theatre is holding auditions for next year's advanced theatre classes!
Next year we will be offering THREE audition-only classes for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students interested in pursuing theatre:
JV Troupe **NEW (advanced section of beginner theatre) - 2nd Period
Production I (competition acting class) - 6th Period
Technical Theatre I (advanced lights, sound, and design class) - 5th Period
The JV Theatre Troupe is a new course being offered next year at Bedford. Troupe is an advanced section of Beginner Theatre for students who are interested in learning about theatre through hands-on production experience--aka creating shows! Troupe students will be required to participate in in-class plays, some after school rehearsals, and an elementary tour show. This course will be offered to 7th and 8th graders by audition only.
Production I is an advanced acting class for students who have substantial on-stage experience. We will explore advanced acting techniques, build creativity, and broaden the diversity of characters and performance styles. Production students are required to participate in after school productions, our elementary tour show, and our One Act Festival Competition production. This course will be offered to select 8th and 9th graders by audition only.
Technical Theatre I is an advanced design class. We explore all elements of Technical Theatre: set design, set building, costumes, makeup, lighting, sound, special effects, stage management, directing, and marketing. This course will be offered to select 8th and 9th graders by audition only.

This week the students worked on a kite project and learned about the concept of air and wind as an energy source. The students were given kits to work with a partner and complete a kite using lite wrapping paper, straws, and string. Next week we will be able to get out and test them outside. This was a great learning experience and the students realized there are uncommon materials that can be used in projects to create something that they would normally use more traditional materials. They are looking forward to getting outside and getting some test flight time.
Hello BJH Community - I am fortunate enough to have a shipment of five new infant simulators purchased for my program! This means I am in need of the following items for these five new babies: car seats, blankets and tote bags/diaper bags. The car seats need to be infant car seat but I do not need the base and they do not need to be fancy. Infant seats can be found at garage sales as they cannot be donated. Any baby blanket will work. Diaper bags/tote bags need to be big enough to hold the largest and bulkiest item, which is a baby blanket. The bags hold a change of clothes, a cloth diaper, bottle, and a laminated help card for students.
Any donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the office and sent to C109. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Keneda at susannahkeneda@hebisd.edu
Thank you for supporting BJH and my CTE course!
Yearbooks are ready for purchase! You know you want one! Yearbooks cost is $55 from February 3 to May 6, upon delivery at ninth grade awards, books will be $60.
If you have any questions, email Mrs. Keneda at susannahkeneda@hebisd.edu.

Hello Everybody,
Our Teen Services department is very interested in finding out what teens (ages 13-18) are reading and what kinds of programs and services they'd be interested in having the Bedford Library provide. Our ultimate goal is to make the Bedford Library a better place for teens in our community.
We have created an online survey, and we're hoping that you'd be willing to pass it along to any students who might willing to share their opinions. Even if they don't currently visit our library, we're still interested in what they think because they just might become future library users!
We are offering one hour of volunteer/community service credit to anyone who completes it. They need to include their name at the bottom of the survey to receive credit.
SURVEY LINK: https://forms.gle/7vev2ATxt1oNLV977
There is no official deadline for the survey, but we'd love to hear back from you students as soon as possible so that we can start implementing some of their ideas this summer. Thank you so much for your help in getting the word out! We really appreciate any help you could provide.
