Mrs. Keneda in a Nutshell
Welcome to Family and Consumer Sciences at BJH! My teaching career began at Central Junior High School in 1996. At CJH, I taught courses very similar to the ones being taught today at BJH. I left CJH at Christmas of 2001 to start a family. During my time off from full time teaching, I stayed involved in many children related organizations - MOMS club, Girl Scout Leader for 4 years, PTA VP of Membership for three years. When my child started Kindergarten, I was talked into subbing at the elementary school. I learned two things: I prefer older students and I missed having my own classroom. I worked as an Adjunct Instructor at TCC from Fall of 2011 to Spring 2014. It was then that I decided I was ready to work full time. I took a high school job in a 2A school for one year, thinking I could handle the commute. The commute proved to be a bit much for myself and family. While job hunting, I read the perfect career choice for myself: HEBISD Junior High FCS/Yearbook combination. I applied immediately and the rest, as they say, is history. I started my dream job at BJH the Fall of 2015. I love what I do and I enjoy coming to work every day. I believe strongly in the independence my curriculum develops in students. I live for the ah-ha moments when they finally complete something after saying they could never do it. I do the happy dance quietly in my head every time.
