Keeping Bedford Heights Families & Community Informed!
August 23-29, 2026
BHE Families,
What a wonderful first full week of school! Thank you for the support, encouragement, patience, and trust you have shown as we continued building the routines and relationships that will carry us through a great year.
As we enjoy this Sunday, I hope this weekend has been exactly what your family needed—time to connect, time to rest, a little adventure, or simply a chance to slow down, recharge, and reset. The first week of school brings so much excitement and energy, as well as, a lot of exhuastion and big feelings for many. Whatever side your home landed on just know that you are not alone. I hope these past couple of days have provided an opportunity to reconnect before we begin again.
We are grateful to have your family as part of our BHE community and are excited to welcome everyone back tomorrow, ready for another week of learning, growing, and making great things happen together.
With Kindness,
-Mrs. Z
BHE utilizes a schoolwide approach to behavior support and family communication designed to help students reflect, problem-solve, and make positive choices while maintaining the high expectations that allow learning to thrive. In previous years, the M.O.O.S.E. served as a tangible connection between school and home within this process. As the district has phased out the use of the M.O.O.S.E., I want to take a moment to clearly outline how we will continue to communicate with families and partner together to coach desired behaviors. While the tool may be changing, our commitment to consistent expectations, student growth, and a strong home-school partnership remains the same.
Our first response will always be a conversation with your child and a reminder of the expectation. If the behavior persists, the student will receive a Fix-It Slip as a tangible reminder to Stop. Think. Fix. If the behavior continues, the student will complete a Reflection Form in their classroom safe space or a neighboring classroom, providing time and space to consider what may be contributing to the behavior and how to move forward successfully. When a student reaches the Reflection Form step, families will be notified by email or phone.
If the behavior continues after these opportunities for redirection and reflection, an office referral may be made and campus administration will become involved to determine appropriate next steps or consequences. Behaviors that are significantly disruptive, unsafe, or dangerous will always result in immediate administrative involvement.
As we adjust to no longer having the tangible back-and-forth of the M.O.O.S.E. communication tool, we appreciate your partnership and support of this new process of a higher volume of emails or phone calls. Our goal is not simply to address behavior, but to teach students how to work through challenges, take accountability, make better choices, and grow. When home and school reinforce that message together, we strengthen the safe, supportive, and high-achieving learning environment we want for every BHE student.

Tardy bell rings at 7:45am; all students not in classrooms at this time will be counted tardy
Please follow all posted city traffic and parking signs. Law enforcement has been ticketing vehicles that are not following the new signage, including designated No Parking areas and No Left Turn restrictions.
Please use designated crosswalks and safe drop-off locations at all times. With many young children and a high volume of traffic around our campus, dropping students off at undesignated locations or crossing the street outside of a crosswalk creates a significant safety risk. Convenience should never come before safety. Please model safe practices for our students by using designated drop-off areas and crosswalks every time.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, adjusted routes, and supported us as we have continued to refine our arrival and dismissal procedures.
At the beginning of the year, our BHE staff took time to connect and reflect on a value we hold dear and strive to live out each day within the halls of our school. Each staff member painted that value on a rock to help create our BHE Rock Garden near the front of our school.
Now, we would love for our BHE families to be represented alongside us—because we are all BHE! Take a moment as a family to connect, choose a word or value that is meaningful to you, and create a rock together.
A few simple tips:
Keep it simple—a word, short phrase, or small design is perfect!
Paint pens or Sharpies work great for lettering and designs.
When your rock is complete, bring it to the table in the front office labeled “Rock Garden,” and we’ll add it to our landscape as soon as possible.

We love welcoming families to campus for lunch! If you’re joining your Bulldog, please help us keep lunch visits safe, enjoyable, and special for everyone by remembering the following:
Bring a government-issued photo ID. All visitors must present an ID at the front entrance and sign in to receive a visitor badge. No exceptions.
Please limit lunch visits to one day per week. This gives your child plenty of opportunities to enjoy important social time with classmates and friends.
Lunch time is special one-on-one time! You may eat only with your approved child. Other students may join you only when they are also eating with their own approved visitor.
Please remain at the designated visitor tables and keep your visitor badge visible throughout your visit. Visitors should not enter the cafeteria, student restrooms, classrooms or hallways.
Make the most of your time together! We encourage families to put screens away and enjoy connecting and talking with their Bulldog. We’ll even have conversation starter cards available if you’d like a little inspiration!
Thank you for helping us create a safe, welcoming, and positive lunch experience for all of our Bulldogs and their families! 🐾💙
