Animation I is an introduction to traditional animation. Skills learned in Animation will prepare students for a possible future in the television/movie industry in the areas of animation, character and story development, special effects, and motion graphics. In addition, this course is designed for students that want to pursue careers in video gaming (character and level design), print advertising, scientific visualization, medical animation, interactive applications, and architectural rendering. Students will digitally create 3D computer-generated animations. The basic principles of design and animation will be covered. Students learn to model, light, animate, texture, and render using Autodesk Maya. Students should have basic computer skills and be able to manage files and folders. It is helpful to have skills in drawing and geometry prior to taking this course.

This course utilizes CANVAS as a workflow management system. Class assignments and class content is delivered on one easy-to-access online space.
Animation 2 builds on the skills developed in Animation 1. Students interested in being a part of Animation 2 must earn a 90 or higher in Animation 1 and have teacher approval.
This course consists of a series of lessons, covering photorealistic modeling, group movie production, character design, stop motion production, 2D animation, and career preparation.
Students will use Adobe Animate, Autodesk Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier, and Stop Motion Pro.
