🏅 Our students will have an opportunity to compete:
Regionals (compete against other charter schools). This occurs in January. Exact dates are not yet determined.
***ALL competitions are virtual, and students can win medals as individuals and as a team. Graduating students will receive an honor cord. You can add this accomplishment to your resume and college applications as an honor program.
🏆 Preparing for the Competition
During class time the students will be preparing to handle the tasks at the competition. If there is an area where the students do not want to compete in, they can opt out of that section. For instance, the student wants to do the subjects tests but not the speech section.
For each competition students will:
Take tests for each subject area (Social Science, Science, Art, Music, Literature, Economics, and Math)
Complete a Timed Essay (Students will be given 3 prompts and students will choose 1 to write a essay on. They have 50 minutes to complete the essay. The prompts will be related to the material we have studied).
Prepared Speech: Students will prepare a speech on any subject that they would like and perform the speech for a panel of judges. The speech will need to be 3 1/2 - 4 minutes.
Impromptu Speech: After the prepared speech, students will be given a choice of prompts and then will answer the prompt in a 1 1/2 - 2 minute impromptu speech.
Interview: Students will be interviewed by a panel of judges and scored on their interview skills.
