In 2023-24, Heartland AEA will continue to work in partnership with Drake University, Grand View University, and Morningside College to make it affordable for educators to enroll in ESL-focused graduate coursework to support their knowledge and skills in best practices for English Learners. This is made possible through the use of our Title III grant funding.
All certified teachers in Heartland AEA schools and districts who are served by our Title III grant will be eligible. (For example, Des Moines Public School is an individual Title III subgrantee and does not participate through Heartland AEA.)
For Grand View University and Morningside College, educators personally pay for coursework up front, successfully complete a course, and then submit the required paperwork to Heartland AEA for reimbursement. Reimbursement is equivalent to approximately four graduate-level courses at Grand View and Morningside.
For Drake University, the Drake partnership with Heartland AEA is on pause for the 2023-24 school year.
Please note participation can occur across two academic years, and participants do NOT need to complete an entire endorsement to qualify for this funding. This opportunity will be re-evaluated on a year-by-year basis. See the information below for more details.
