Children ask an average of 40,000 questions from ages 2 through 5 years. Curiosity is woven into the fabric of young children. They encounter something new, ask questions, learn a little bit which leads to more questions. The best way to capture a child’s attention is through their curiosities, letting them PLAY with their ideas and surroundings. Play stimulates the exploration and discovery central to science and STEM. When children play, they explore the world around them to build an understanding of their natural and social environments. Teachers and caregivers can create environments rich with play to guide young children toward answering their own questions.
The videos and lesson plans created by our Heartland Science Consultants are specifically designed with caregivers and teachers of young children in mind. For support and assistance, please reach out to one of the science consultants.
