The Heart of the Rockies Initiative
Amy Katz of the Heart of the Rockies Initiative https://heart-of-rockies.org/ created these maps to show some of their project types and the landscapes and communities where they work. Native Lands is an ongoing project by Native Land Digital https://native-land.ca/ to geographically acknowledge the extent of native lands globally.
The Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Post-fire Monitoring and Drinking Water Wells Map for Mora County. Static map prepared to assist with planning a post-fire water sampling project. This basic map illustrates some of the challenges in representing and labeling many features in a small area. The overall design borrows from USGS publication design standards.

The Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Post-fire Resource Hub provides post-fire watershed response and recovery information and updates for the areas affected by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fires and floods. It serves as a collection of information and resources that are also being distributed through other means. Restricted access sections allow cooperating agencies to share sensitive mapping and other data that cannot be publicly shared. This is an example of the use of interactive maps hosted through ESRI’s ArcGIS Online Hub Premium platform.

Forest groups in the Intermountain West Joint Venture geography
This map was produced as part of the Intermountain West Joint Venture’s 2024 Implementation Plan. The IWJV works to conserve and enhance bird habitats at meaningful scales through capacity building, science, communications, and strategic partnerships. Our work has previously been largely focused on sagebrush and wetland habitats in the intermountain west. This map reveals the scale of forest habitat and the potential for positive conservation outcomes for bird habitat in forests. Our revised Implementation Plan includes a chapter on forests and our goals for these habitats in the coming years.

Mendon Meadow Preserve
Mendon Meadow Preserve is an agricultural property purchased by Bear River Land Conservancy (BRLC) in 2013. The property was purchased to protect Ute ladies'-tresses, a rare and threatened orchid that grows in wet meadows and riparian areas throughout the intermountain west. As part of our property management policy, we establish baseline conditions for properties we manage and protect. These maps represent an update to the baseline condition of the property and will be used for annual monitoring over the next few years. Gabe Murray created a seven-map series describing various characteristics of the preserve, including the property boundary, the preserve's vicinity, photo points, structures, soils, and vegetation.
