In 2007 Stewarttown Middle School tragically lost Chelsea DeForest, a Grade 7 Student, in a car accident. Each year in her memory, the Student Parliament chooses a charity to support in her name. For the 2017-2018 school year, we have chosen Plan International and the Spread the Net Campaign. Help us keep Chelsea's giving sprit alive by supporting Plan International's Spread the Net Student Challenge.
This year Stewarttown's Student Parliament has BIG goals. We want to raise a TON of money for Spread the Net in memory of Chelsea.
We have learned, that often it is the littlest things that can make the biggest difference with the greatest impact.
"Malaria is a global issue with half the world's population (3.2 billion people) at risk of contracting this deadly disease. Transmitted my infected mosquitos, malaria claims the lives of hundreds of thousands of people a year - 90% of which are in Africa and two thirds of which are children under 5. Every MINUTE a child dies from malaria. The scary truth - malaria is treatable AND preventable."(Plan International)
Between now and February 19th- Student Parliament will be running a series of fundraising events to help meet our HUGE GOAL .
Help Stewarttown Students make a Difference!!
