The following two articles are by John M. Feierabend.  They both explain the scientific research behind the importance of teaching music to young children and how to successfully attain full music literacy.  The children at our school have benefitted from this program and have shown increases in music literacy by accurately singing pitches, feeling the beat, demonstrating expression and the ability to hear what they read on the page.
