Multiplication Facts

In Grade 3, we work REALLY hard on our Multiplication Facts. It is important to know that multiplication means "groups of." It is also important to know these facts... Quickly! We want them to be almost automatic so that it will help you in math class and LIFE!

We will be working on multiplication theory, ideas, and understanding together as a class. We will continue our regular lessons, problem solving, number talks and our math journals as we work though the unit. As well, students will also work on a "go at your own pace" program called "The Multiplication Zoo" to help them master their facts quickly and automatically.

How can parents help?? Practice multiplication facts at home! Use flashcards (perfect for the glovebox in the car or at commercials during your favourite TV show!), iPhone (or iPod/iPad) apps that help practice multiplication skills, and ask your child about what he or she is learning about in class that day!
