Learning Strategies

When listening, speaking, reading and writing, students are always encouraged to use the following strategies:

• Ask questions
• Listen and look for “mots amis,” words that are similar in English
• Listen attentively
• Make predictions
• Regroup words and ideas
• Look at the illustrations, and pictures
• Identify the main ideas
• Use gestures to explain ideas
• Ask people to repeat what they are saying
• Use exemplaires
• Make connections
• Make connections to personal experiences
• Visualize in your head
