Grade 4

Welcome to Grade 4 page! Here you will find information about what we are doing in class. Please visit the songs page (under "Resources" tab) to help you practise your oral French comprehension skills.

Grade 4 students receive 120 minutes of Core French instruction distributed in 2 or 3 classes per week. The emphasis will be on listening and speaking, however all strands (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) will be evaluated on both terms Report Cards.

The Ontario Curriculum: French as a Second Language

Essentially, we will use French materials published by Les Éditions CEC, which lead our students into the 21^st century with C'est parti!, a strategy-based, action-oriented program especially designed for Grades 4 and approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education. This collection offers engaging themes that reflect authentic learning situations integrating oral interaction with reading and writing, and a wide variety of text forms. C'est parti! includes 3 captivating themes that are sure to please our Grade 4 students:
