The first day of school is Wednesday September 3, 2025.
We will meet students each morning at the Kindergarten playground at the back of the school. If you drive or walk to school, your parents should walk you to the Kindergarten playground between 9:05 and 9:20 a.m. Families can access the Kindergarten playground by walking along the path at the front of the school and then around the back. There will be lots of staff around on the first day to assist you. You will say goodbye to your family members at the gate and then come into the playground with your classmates. (*Parents- to make this transition as smooth as possible, we ask that you make a quick exit after saying goodbye at the gate, rather than standing outside the fence). If you arrive after 9:20 (after the first bell), please remember to enter through the front door of the school and sign in at the office.
If you take the bus to school on the first day, staff members will be there to guide you around the school on the pathway to the playground area. Then, we will connect you with a bus buddy during the first day of school. This buddy will walk you to the Kindergarten playground each morning and walk you out to the bus each afternoon. There will continue to be an assigned staff member each morning assisting our bus buddies and kindergarten students to the kindergarten playground.
If mom or dad are picking you up at the end of the day, we will meet them at the community room door (#11) at 3:40 each day.
More specific information regarding the first day of school will be made available closer to the start of the year.
A staff member will greet Kindergarten children in the Kindergarten playground at the back of the school starting at 9:05 each morning. If you arrive after 9:20, please enter through the front door of the school and sign your child in at the office.
Bus students will be walked by their bus buddy to our Kindergarten playground.
Kindergarten students use Door #11 as their dismissal door. It is the door that is straight ahead when you pull into our school parking lot.
We ask that parents who are picking up their child arrive early and wait outside the door at 3:40 each day. This helps to eliminate crowding and congestion at the door when the bus students and the rest of the school are dismissed at 3:45.
Bus students will be picked up by their bus buddy in the Kindergarten hallway and walked to their bus. The school dismissal bell rings at 3:45.
*Please do not pull up along the sidewalk to drop off/pick up your child. This is a bus/fire route. Parents are asked to park in designated parking spots and walk their child to the playground. Additional parking is available behind the school at Ella Foote Hall.
The Halton District School Board Before and After School Program operates here at Kilbride. Families are asked to express their interest in having their child(ren) attend the HDSB Before and After School Program during the upcoming school year (September 2025 to June 2026).
Families looking for before and/or after school care for the 2025-2026 school year will need to pre-register using the OneHSN/OneList online system that will be made available here on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. Pre-registration will remain open.
Spaces in the program will be confirmed beginning April 1, 2025. Priority placement will be given to families requesting full-time, before and after school care, Monday to Friday. All part-time requests will be considered after June 1, 2025.
For any questions regarding the before and after school program, please contact Leanne Pesowski, Manager, Early Years and Child Care Programs, pesowskil@hdsb.ca
Our school nutrition breaks are from 11:05-11:45 am and 1:25-2:05 pm. The first break is our lunch break and all students have lunch at this time. Kindergarten students have a flexible snack schedule. We do not have a formal snack time. Students are encouraged to have snacks throughout the day as they feel hungry. The educators support students to ensure that they are managing their snacks effectively.
We encourage you to send food in child-friendly containers (litter-less, non-spill, manageable to open independently). You may want to label your child's food containers.
Kilbride is a nut-free environment. We kindly ask that you do not send foods containing peanuts or tree nuts, including Nutella.
