First Day of School

The first day of Full Day Kindergarten starts on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. 

On the first day, your child will meet their educators, their classmates and have an opportunity to become familiar with their new classroom environment at Glen Williams PS.  Please fill in the  First Week Information Form prior to the first day of school and include the form in your child's backpack as well.

Entry and Dismissal Times

8:00 am -Supervision begins. Please accompany your child to the right side of the building near the garbage bins.  A kindergarten team member will meet you and your child and take them to the enclosed kindergarten play area at the back of the school.  Please do not come to the back of the school.

8:15 am -Entry Bell rings. Children will line up in their respective classes; one at the far wall and one at the fence. Here the Educators will lead them into the school

2:35 pm - Dismissal time.  School staff will only dismiss students to the parent/caregiver that is noted on the First Week Information  Form and send with your child's backpack on the first day of school or via email  to your child's educator (kantzavelosd@hdsb.ca , washbournel@hdsb.ca or nolanc@hdsb.ca).

Please wait at the right side of the school near the garbage bins and one of your child's teachers will bring them out to you.  If your child's dismissal information changes throughout the year, PLEASE inform your child's educators immediately.

Nutrition Breaks

Our school is a  Nut Free Environment so no peanuts, tree nuts, or nut spreads PLEASE. Thank you for understanding for the  safety of all our students and staff. We have free-flow snack throughout the day where students can access their food whenever  they feel hungry. Therefore we will be outside for the full 40 minute Nutrition Breaks. Staff members will always be outside with  the students to supervise them while on Nutrition Breaks. 

Please check the weather and dress your child appropriately. 

   Office Procedures

If your child will be absent from or late arriving at school, please report this to the school by using  School Messenger.

Bus Information

If your child is a bus student, please let us know in September on the First Week Information Form and send the form as well in  your child's backpack on the first day of school or via email to your child's educator ( kantzavelosd@hdsb.ca, washbournel@hdsb.ca or nolanc@hdsb.ca ).

Before and After School Child Care Information

If your child attends a before and/or after school program, please let your child's educators know the information on the First Week Information Form .
