A Ziploc bag of extra clothes is necessary as accidents may happen (e.g., water play, paint, lunch time, bathroom). Please make sure that the Ziploc bag and all pieces of clothing are labelled with your child’s name. This bag will be kept in a separate bin and used when needed. In this bag, please include extra: t-shirt, pants, underwear socks and an empty plastic bag for the wet or soiled clothes.
The children will have a snack time in the morning and a lunch time in the afternoon. Please send in healthy snacks for the morning and a bigger meal for the afternoon. Have your child practice opening containers at home so that they can feel independent at school.
As an eco school, it is important it instill environmental stewardship in our students. We kindly request no single use plastics or juice boxes at school. Labelled reusable water bottles are the beverage of choice for school. A leak-proof reusable water bottle, labeled with your child’s name is suggested.
We are outside for over an hour each day. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Please apply sunscreen at home before your child comes to school. We will remind them to reapply sunscreen before outdoor time.
There will be an educator on duty starting at 8:30 am every morning. The bell rings at 8:45 am. Please make sure your child arrives on time. For the safety of the students, we ask that all parents, caregivers and siblings remain outside of the fenced area.
Dismissal time is at 3:05 pm. We try our best to be outside 5 to 10 minutes before this bell in order to have all our students safely with their parents or caregivers before the rush with the older students. Parents and caregivers are asked to wait outside the gate until all children are dismissed. This ensures that each child is safely dismissed to the correct parent/caregiver.
Children will only be dismissed to the parent or caregiver that is noted on the 'First Week Information Form' that is to be sent in on the first day of school. If there are any changes to this routine (different person picking up, etc.) please be sure to let us know in writing or by email.
We love having the opportunity to talk to parents, however, dismissal time is a very busy time for us. Please wait until all of the children are dismissed if you would like to chat with us. By doing so, you will get our undivided attention and we can safely supervise the children.
Communication throughout the year is very important. Please do not hesitate to email or give us a call or set up an appointment if you have any questions. We will do the same. Throughout the year we will be sending emails home about what we are learning and discovering in our classroom. Please send an email to your child's teachers so we can start to set this up. Please put your child’s name as the subject line.
Please leave all personal toys at home. We have many items to explore and play with in our classroom.
We ask that if your child arrives at school after the bell that you please sign him/her in at the office. If your child needs to leave early, please send us an email. If that is not possible, please report to the office and one of our lovely secretaries will let us know.
