All OVA rules are in effect with some exceptions listed below:

ROUND ROBIN POOL PLAY (2 Straight)

A fifty minute time period has been set for each match. However, all matches will be played to completion. All times are approximate and matches will begin at the end of the previous match.  All teams will be given a 5– 5 warm-up for their first match of the day. The rest of the matches will have a 3-3 warm-up, but referees reserve the right to start a game with no warmup if we are behind schedule. If we fall a full round behind schedule, the ref may start sets at 5-5, or move to one match only to determine winner, so please skip warmups and put balls away if we are behind schedule. Teams not prepared to send a starting lineup to the floor when requested by the referee risk being charged a time-out. Games are capped at 25.

SEEDING ROUND (2 Straight)

The top two teams for each pool will advance to the tier 1 seeding pools.  The 3rd and 4th place teams will advance to the tier 2 seeding pools. Please note that there may be a change of venue between rounds.  Some travel may be required. Time has been allotted for travel on Saturday. Seeding rounds will have a 5-5 warm-up for your first match and then a 3-3 subsequently, depending on time constraints. Games are capped at 25. There are no tiebreakers in SEEDING round as all teams make the playoffs, so ties are broken by head to head record and then overall plus minus.

PLAYOFF ROUNDS (2 out 3)

All playoff round games will be best two out of three, first two games to 25 points, 27 cap and if required a third game to 15, 17 cap.

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES FOR ROUND ROBIN PLAY

Tie Breakers are only needed after round robin play when there is a tie for tier 1 and 2, (2nd and 3rd place) playoff positions. This will not be decided by head to head or point ratio, but rather by a one game, capped at 15 points. Any other tie for first and second, or third and fourth positions will be determined by head to head record and then overall plus/minus. If there is a three way tie from 1st to 3rd place, the team with the best record either by head to head and then point ratio between tied teams will be given the highest seed. The two remaining teams will play a tiebreaker to determine second place. If there is a three way tie for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, the team with the best record either by head to head and then point ratio between tied teams will play the winner of 3rd and 4th place, capped at 15 to determine all playoff positions.  If there is a four-way tie after round robin, the team with the best record either by head to head and then point ratio between tied teams will be given the highest seed. 4th place will play 3rd capped at 15, and the winner will play 2nd place to 15 to determine all remaining 3 positions.  Girls teams in Pool E and F will not have tiebreakers,as they will cross over with the other pool to determine ranking. In the boys pool, two teams with the best records in Tier 2 will move up to Tier 1 on Saturday.

TIME CONSTRAINTS: Warmup times will be reduced in time or eliminated in order to stay on schedule. Convenors may also reduce time of game as well (e.g., Start a set at 5-5), so please make sure your teams are on time to their matches and volleyballs are put away when prompted.
