Successful careers guidance is essential to raising the aspirations of our young people, and by this, that of the community also. Developing skills and an understanding of how to apply them is a key element at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, allowing students to better comprehend career paths that would be suited to them. As young people are nurtured through the school employment pathways and further education, destinations become the focal point of mentoring and independent guidance programmes. Developing independent, resilient young people who are able to be successful in the work environment is central to the school’s role within the community.

Any provider wishing to access the school should contact Mr Chris Herron, Assistant Headteacher (Infrastructures & Futures). The school may also be contacted by telephone on 01255 245460 to organise an initial meeting.
The school’s safeguarding and PSHEE policy(s) sets out the school’s approach to allowing providers into school as visitors to talk to our students: https://www.hdhs.org.uk/parents/policies/
The answer is simple... It could take you anywhere!
PSHEECC has specific lessons aimed at supporting students to identify their personal strengths and values in relation to careers.
In addition to this, the lessons enable students to develop skills required for study at post 16 beyond and work. In turn, these lessons support them to explore and identify future career choices.
Furthermore students will have the opportunity to delve into the 'real world', studying social problems and key issues; enabling them to forge links to a diverse range of industries, both in the UK and globally.
