HOW STUDENTS PURCHASE MEALS AT THE CAFETERIA

The Hudson County Schools of Technology (HCST) Food Services Department uses a computerized point of sale system to provide each student with a food services account. The account enables parents to prepay for breakfast and lunch and, more importantly, monitor their child’s use online via MySchoolBucks.com.

The process is contactless.  Students simply scan their student ID barcode as they pass through cafeteria line. Parents have the ability to view their child’s transaction history report. This history report displays the dates and times that the student purchased a breakfast, lunch or à la carte item.

Funds may be added to a student's account in two ways:

1. Cash and/or money order forwarded to the school's cafeteria manager. Funds will be entered into the student's cafeteria account the same day as received. There is no transaction fee for this service. Money orders should be made payable to HCST Food Services.  Be sure to include the student's name on the Money order.

2. Online via www.myschoolbucks.com. Click here for step-by-step instructions. There is no transaction fee for this service.

Meal Charge Procedures

• À la carte purchases are not permitted with a negative account balance, however the student will be served a reimbursable breakfast and/or lunch meal.

• Negative balance emails are sent to the parent/guardian of the student.
