Captain Eberwine (retired) serves as the Senior Naval Science Instructor at Hamilton High School beginning with the 2020-21 school year. A native of Butler County, he was commissioned as a Naval Supply Officer in 1990 from the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Miami University where he majored in accounting and finance. In 1996, he received a Masters of Business Administration from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA. In addition, he completed Executive Development Programs at University of North Carolina- Kenan-Flagler Business School and University of Michigan – Ross School of Business.
Serving 26 years on active duty, Captain Eberwine’s operational assignments include sea tours as the plankowner Disbursing and Sales Officer on the guided missile cruiser USS ANZIO (CG-68) and Supply Officer on the ballistic missile submarine USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN -736)(Gold) as well as shore based tours as Executive Officer of Navy Cargo Handling Battalion ONE (NCHB 1) and Supply Offcier of NAS JRB Fort Worth. In 2003, during his NCHB 1 tour, he deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom serving as Commander Task Unit 55.5.3 and was responsible for 4 commands and the backload/redeployment of the U.S Marine Expeditionary Force and Naval Support Element.
Shore duty assignments included two tours at the Navy Supply Corps School when it was located in Athens, GA. He initially served as an instructor for the initial Supply Officer Basic Qualification Course and a later tour as the Reserve Training Director. He served several tours directly supporting the Navy Reserves including as Director of Logistics for Navy Region Southeast Reserve Component Command, Supply Corps Select Reserve Community/Program Manager and Career Counselor. He retired from active duty in August 2016 while serving as the Assistant Commander for Reserve Affairs, Naval Supply Systems Command.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards). He achieved Naval Supply Corps warfare qualifications in submarine, surface, aviation and expeditionary environments.
Captain Eberwine and his wife Melissa have 4 children, and after active duty retirement, returned to Butler County where he has worked with various area public school districts. He previously served as the Senior Naval Science Instructor at Greenville High School for the 2017/18 and 2018/19 school years achieving a school first back to back recognition as a Distinguished Unit with Honors, the Navy's highest level.
