Parent-Athlete Information Night
Wednesday, August 28th at 6pm at HHS aud
PARENT NIGHT OVERVIEW
1. Fundraising and teambuilding are the responsibility of our Captains.
There will be a bottle and can drive on Saturday 9/7 at the high school from 8-10
2. Suits: school will pay for half. Suit ordering info: TBD instructions on website
3. If you have a question/concern/comment anytime over the season, please email me. I will do my best to respond in a timely manner and answer your question to the best of my ability.
4. This is a high school program and we have limited varsity spots but if athletes are present at practice and work hard, I will do my very best to get them into as many races as is possible.
5. Any athlete found to be in violation of the regulations and guidelines outlined at registration will be subject to school and team disciplinary that may include suspension/not participating in meets.
6. Teaching is huge for me and I work to have a balance between teaching and training
7. COMMUNICATION:
a. If your athlete gets hurt in practice or the locker room-please email and tell me if they have not. It is very important for me to know.
b. If they are absent from practice or the day of a meet, please send an email prior to or as soon as you know (they can also email me, it does not have to be the parent)-it makes all the difference in the world if I know before instead of wondering where they are.
c. If an athlete is absent prior to a meet for any reason they will not swim in that meet, if there is something planned, I have found ways to make it work in lots of different circumstances .
d. The expectation is perfect attendance, I realize this is not possible but this is a varsity team and I would like to be able to focus on those swimmers who are present and ready to work/learn.
e. I will always let the girls know if I will not be there (which I don’t plan on often), and I expect the same courtesy
f. I prioritize academics and family but I ask that that is not taken advantage of.
8. For the most success to occur, there needs to be 3 things: the athlete needs to want it, the parents need to want it and the coach needs to want it. No one can want it more than any other-not as successful.
9. If there is ever an emergency in the pool area during a meet, I need to have all of the athletes come with me first so that I am able to account for everyone, and they will be able to reunite with you afterwards.
10. If you plan to drive your athlete home from a swim meet instead of taking the bus, you must sign them out at the meet. You may not take home any other athletes.
11. Home swim meets: we occasionally need parent volunteer/help-email me if you are ever interested in that.
***I love swimming/love coaching/love teaching-and I love to have fun, but I do take my job very seriously and I come in everyday working towards the goal of improvement and progress. I also expect the same commitment, responsibility and dedication from my athletes. This program DOES NOT just include the physical- I work to instill respect, integrity, accountability, honesty and responsibly.
