Pacing guides are a suggested timeline of when to introduce each North Carolina State Standard. Please keep in mind that when they are introduced, they should be explicitly taught and modeled for students. A blank space within the guide does not mean no skills from that domain will be taught or reviewed. The responsibility for spiraling back to ensure mastery has been left to you as the classroom teacher. Please refer to the Clarifying Content and the Unpacked Content documents for a full description of the expected mastery levels, vocabulary, and resources. Remember all benchmarks are cumulative and thus will contain test items that may have been taught in the previous quarters.
