Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
What is Positive Behavior Intervention and Support?
- A school-wide collaborative process to build an environment in which students see more benefit in appropriate behavior than problem behavior
- A process of developing and implementing effective interventions to encourage positive behavior
- A proactive process of prevention problem behaviors by teaching acceptable behaviors and utilizing reinforcement-based strategies to encourage the students to practice these behaviors
Why Use Positive Behavior Support?
- Students are coming to school with more problem behaviors and fewer social skills
- It is a proactive, rather than reactive approach, and it works!
- It is not an add-on but integrated into all other school and classroom goals
