Our Philosophy
Hoke County Schools firmly "believe that all students can learn according to their abilities." We also believe that "learning is a lifelong endeavor that is cultivated through the collaborative efforts of the school, home, and community." 1
Furthermore, we believe that gifted children and youth exist within all ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic groups. We believe that services for children who are gifted must be a part of an overall education program.
We believe that students who are gifted may not be reaching their potential; indeed, they may not even be recognized as gifted. For this reason, we believe an identification and education plan using multiple criteria must be developed and utilized.
We believe we should strive to provide a differentiated education for all gifted students recognizing individual needs and strengths. we believe that appropriate staff development is necessary to assist teachers in providing this differentiated education.
We believe that continuous collaboration among teachers, parents, administrators, and community members is imperative to meet our goals.
Our Vision
The Hoke County School System is a world-class learning organization. We engage all members of our diverse student population in rigorous and relevant schoolwork that prepares them for the 21st century.
Our Mission
The mission of Hoke County Schools' Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program is to provide differentiated educational services beyond those ordinarily provided by the regular educational program. We will identify students from all cultural groups, across all economic strata and in all areas of human endeavor to ensure that students are critical thinkers and problem solvers, prepared for college, career and life upon graduation.
