When can I reach Mrs. Roe?

I answer emails as soon as possible and always within 24 hours during the week. If you don't receive a response during the week please email me again as it may have been overlooked. However, I do not traditionally answer emails over the weekend. All emails received after noon on Friday will be answered when I return to school on Monday morning. If you do not receive an email at this time or within the 24 hour window during the week please email again.

I am available during AO on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Students may drop in unannounced during AO on these days. I am available before school at 7:15. However, in order to meet before school you will need to email me ahead of time to schedule the exact time and date.

What if my chromebook won´t work?

Tech problems are not an excuse for late work. Try to complete work early to avoid last minute issues. If your chromebook quits working you can access your material through another computer or phone. Computers are available for use at the SPHS and Hoover City libraries. Please have all chromebook issues fixed as quickly as possible. You will be allowed ONE tech pass per semester. Save this for when you truly need it. For example, power goes out due to a storm.

As a Parent, how can I help my student succeed?

Parents can help their students succeed in this course in the following ways

1) Stress time management - The key to this course is self-pacing. Don't allow your student to complete all of their work on Sunday evening. They should work on this course a little at a time throughout the week. It is best if work is completed by Friday of each week. This way, if questions arise, students will have time to seek answers. Consider helping your student find a consistent time and place in which to complete their Spanish work.

2) Remind students to work on Vocab and Conjuguemos assignments throughout the 9 weeks instead of waiting until the end of the grading period. These assignments are fairly short when spread out over time and will ensure that material is practiced.

3) Encourage students to practice vocabulary using flashcards. They will learn more if they make their own cards rather than copying someone´s electronic set.

4) Encourage students to practice the conjuguemos website if they are struggling with their verb conjugations. Some of these assignments are required but students can use the site as often as they like for review.

5) Ask students if they have checked feedback on graded assignments. Often times students never take time to read the notes that are left while grading these assignments. These comments can be found in the google classroom and are meant to help students learn from their mistakes.
