Our third Maker Monday Crafternoon was held on Monday, December 17, 2018. We had over 50 students, staff, and parents stay after school to create their own treasure box. Learn more and also watch a "how to" video of the event. Here is a "bonus" how to video to make book page ornaments as well.
Our second Maker Monday Crafternoon was held on Monday, November 26, 2018. We were joined by special guest Nancy Ennis who guided us through creating some beautiful jewelry made from the pages of books. We had about 15 students and staff stay after school to create their own earring and bracelets. Learn more and also watch a "how to" video of the event.
On Thursday, November 8, 2018 Ned Tillman came to Hammond to discuss his debut novel for young adults, The Big Melt. Check out a copy of the book from our Media Center today. Mr. Tillman also wrote two other titles, Saving the Places We Love: Paths to Environmental Stewardship (2014) and The Chesapeake Watershed: A Sense of Place and a Call to Action (2009). Both can be checked out from our Media Center collection.
On Friday, November 2, 2018 Heather Cumiskey came to Hammond to discuss her debut novel for young adults, I Like You Like This. Check out a copy of the book from our Media Center today. Ms. Cumiskey was extremely relatable and provided students with lots of inspiration as they work to complete NaNoWriMo!
