This camps will be perfect for you, regardless of your level or dance experience!
This week is going to be an absolute blast! While we will spend plenty of time working on skills and routines, we will also be focusing on having fun, learning new concepts, and building a supportive community together! Summer dance camps have always been one of my favorite things throughout the year. This is when all structures and level placement goes out the window and we get to just DANCE together! This has also been one the most enjoyable times of year where there are no tests or polished performances to prepare for. I have often seen many dancers really flourish and make great strides in their dance ability and more importantly their confidence during these weeks!! Regardless of our different end goals, I can promise that you will walk away with something (most likely, many things) valuable! I can not wait to share this magical week with YOU!
What to expect:
Each day we will have 1 hour that focuses on improving our flexibility while working on strength development. I will be combining a dynamic dance warm up with yoga, Pilates, and other cross training strength movements that I am currently developing in my Masters of Kinesiology program.
The following hour will be spent working on technique across the floor and in center. Progressions will be provided in various skill levels to accommodate and challenge all of the attending dancers!
......and finally, COMBO TIME! We will spend the last hour learning a different style dance combination each day! I LOVE this part because we get to let loose, DANCE, and EXPRESS ourselves! Combo styles will include some of the following, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and hip hop!!
SHOWTIME: 11:30AM Friday! We will spend the last hour on Friday reviewing the combos we learned throughout the week and then our final 30 minutes will be a mini show on the River Hill Auditorium stage! This is intended to be a fun way for us share to the things we have learned with our friends and family! In no way is this intended to be stressful or perfect.
You can also count on lots of laughs, fun, and making new friends!!!
Both this week and week 2 are open to everyone in the community! So, make sure to invite your friends all across town.
