Meet the Teacher...
The Basics...
Hi! My name is Shannon Wildes and I am a 6th grade math teacher at Apple Valley Middle School. I live in Hendersonville with my son, Holden, and our dog, Penny. I enjoy running, cleaning, and spending time with my family! This is my 6th year teaching at Apple Valley Middle School and my fourth year as a 6th grade teacher. Not only do I teach math, but I coach the AVMS Cheerleading Team for football and basketball season.
My Childhood...
I grew up in the Western North Carolina Area. Initially we lived in a small town called Montreat but moved to Asheville when I was in third grade. I attended Black Mountain Primary School and then Haw Creek Elementary School. I went A.C. Reynolds Middle School for 7th and 8th grade, and then on to graduate from A.C. Reynolds High School in 2001. I was the only child in my family until I turned 11 and my first brother was born. I have two younger brothers, Ben and Wes, who both live in Charlotte, NC. My parents still live in Asheville, NC and I get to visit them VERY often!!
My Education...
After high school, I went on to take classes at the University of North Carolina - Asheville. I studied there for a few years until I decided to take a break from my education. In 2007, I enrolled at Mars Hill College and took both day and night classes to complete my degree. In May of 2012, I graduated with honors with my Bachelors of Science in Middle Grades Education.
