Introduction and Class overview
Hello,
My name is Sarah Ellis. I am excited for the new year and delighted that I have your student in my class. Teaching is a calling, and this is certainly my calling.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters of English Literature. This is my 11th year teaching. I have taught Pre-AP English I, English I, English III and Practical Writing. I am continuing to teach Pre-AP English II, English II, and Practical Writing this year.
Our primary focus will be on developing the skills, vocabulary, and confidence necessary to academically analyze literature from multiple genres—informational, argumentative, fiction, poetry, and drama. By the end of each quarter, we will have synthesized multimodal information and created a piece of writing supported with empirical evidence gleaned from our research surrounding a chosen thesis.
We will have recurring, daily Do Now Journal Entries and weekly vocabulary quizzes. All other assignments are subject to schedule, reading assignments, assessment schedules, etc. Our textbooks are digital on Springboard and SAVVAS for Pre-AP English II and SAVVAS for English II. Both of these textbooks are accessible through Clever.
E-mail is the easiest and quickest way to contact me. I will respond within 24 business hours.
Tutorials are Mondays and Tuesdays 4:15pm-5:15pm, or by appointment.
