College Preparation Mathematics
Class Expectations:
· As per HCISD policy, TURN CELL PHONE OFF & KEEP IN BACKPACK. **HB 1481 bans personal electronic devices during the instructional day. **
· School issued iPad must be connected to teacher Classroom App. Failure to be connected could result in a zero on tests and quizzes.
· ALL district and campus policies will be enforced.
· Students are expected to complete assessments during class time. Assessments will be proctored by the teacher.
· Be on time and prepared to learn. Your timeliness affects you and your classmates. Make sure to have a writing utensil, composition book or spiral.
· Seek help when needed. Ask your classmates, attend tutoring or set up an appointment with me, and use all resources available in your UTRGV Webwork course.
· Show your work! The process of working through a problem is just as important as the result. Students are required to show all their work on all test, homework, and quizzes to receive full credit.
· NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED. All work must be completed by the assigned deadline. Assignments have hard deadlines and the deadline WILL NOT be extended.
· Students are responsible for making up work due to an absence (extra-curricular or personal). Any assignments due that day of the absence will be expected to be turned in the day the student returns to class. Students will have the same number of class days they were absent to make up a quiz or assignment. After the allotted time given, the student will not be able to make up the assignment or quiz. Tests are scheduled at least one week in advance. If an absence occurs on a test day, an appointment will need to be made with the teacher to complete the test. Tutoring is available every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:20 am to 7:50 am.
· Retests will be offered if more than 25% of the class fail the test. The higher grade will be recorded. Retests will be scheduled one week after the test and the student must attend tutoring to complete.
· Respect yourself, others and classroom property (including calculators & classroom furniture).
** PLEASE NOTE: POLICE REPORTS WILL BE FILED IF THERE IS ANY DAMAGE TO CALCULATORS OR CLASSROOM FURNITURE.
I expect students to attend class regularly and faithfully, to come to class prepared, and to participate in classroom discussions, presentations, and activities. Students are expected to complete assignments in class or tutoring. No homework will be assigned. Students are also expected to communicate to the teacher any failure to understand the lecture or assignment. Success in the class may be gained by/from active participatory learning, studying, doing assigned work, asking questions, and seeking help when difficulties arise.
