AP 3D Design Course Description
The full syllabus for AP 3D Design is available on Canvas. In this class, you’ll create and submit a portfolio of 3D artwork as part of your AP exam, which can earn you college credit. The work needs to be at a college level, and we’ll offer extra help through tutorial sessions.
A $20.00 registration fee is due in October. This fee is lower than usual but requires you to attend the tutorial sessions. We’ll share more details later in the fall. Once you’re signed up, you should have most of your projects done by March. In April, we’ll focus on final touches and organizing your portfolio, which must be submitted online by early May. If you don’t finish and submit your work, you’ll need to pay the rest of the fee before the school year ends.
This is a self-paced course, so it’s important to stay on top of your work. If you fall too far behind, you might be dropped from the class. You need to complete at least five 3D projects, with each one including photos or written notes showing how you planned and created it. This documentation is a key part of the portfolio required by the College Board. While we’ll spend some time on writing assignments to prepare for the portfolio, most of your time will be spent creating your 3D art. We’ll go over everything else in class.
