Grading Procedures Policy:
All assignments will be grades according to the HCISD grading policy. Grading is on a 100 point system. Test, Projects, classwork, and class participation are assigned a point value. You are expected to keep up with your own grades in order to give you an accurate idea of your current standing. You can also check the HAC account for the latest grades that will be posted on a weekly basis. Major assessments will account for 25% of your grade and Minor assessments will account for 75% totaling the 100.
Major Assessments: include tests, major projects
Minor Assessments: quizzes, daily work, small projects
Attendance Policy:
Students are expected to attend class everyday. If the student is not in class, the student will be marked absent. The student has the sole responsibility to make up any missing assignments/exams upon the return to class. Upon the third consecutive day of a student's absence from the classroom, contact will be made by the teacher with the parents of the student to discuss reasons for absence.
Late Work Policy:
Students will be given the opportunity to turn in late assignments for a point reduction, which will be detailed when the assignment was assigned (10 points per day after the 5th day you will receive a 0)
Makeup Policy:
All students will be given the opportunity to make up work. Your make up work will be given the same number of days to make up based on the number of days you were absent.
Retesting Policy:
Retesting will take place after the student is re-taught the material. The student and teacher will work together on making arrangements for the re-test. The student may raise his/her score to a maximum of 70 on the test by taking the retest. No retests are available for semester exams or for students who received a zero for cheating. It is the student’s responsibility to request a re-test from the teacher.
Cheating Policy:
Cheating is interpreted as a procedure that involves the unauthorized giving or receiving help, offering or seeking aid, or the use of materials prepared in advance for use on assessment. Cheating also involves books, notes or technology in any form being used during an examination without permission from the teacher. Anyone found cheating will receive a zero as a grade.
