Your child is currently enrolled in pre-AP chemistry, OnRamps, or AP Chemistry with me, Mrs. Moore. I am excited to start a new school year and look forward to working with your children.
We will explore chemistry by learning about its importance to our daily lives, career paths in the sciences, and how chemistry is essential to the modern world. We will also implement the reading apprenticeship program throughout the year to enrich their understanding of chemistry and how it applies to the real world. In addition, technology is intertwined as an instructional tool to enhance the learning experience. It has been exciting to see the engagement with students and learning chemistry through the use of technology and hope that this year is even better.
As a parent, your role is crucial to your child’s successful education. Your support, encouragement, and guidance will be invaluable in your child’s success. I welcome any input or feedback you may have. Please review the syllabus with your son/daughter as it contains important class procedures and policies such as grade percentages, make-up work, and much more. Please keep up with your child's grades. Even though I teach these students to be self-advocates for themselves, a small reminder or discussion with your child is always beneficial. If at any time you have any questions about your child's progress, please feel free to reach out through email at roxanna.moore@hcisd.org.
