Kaylyn Wade, MA, MSIS
Hi everyone, I'm Kaylyn Wade, and I'm the librarian at SMMHS! My goals here are for the library to be a welcoming place where students want to spend time, and for myself to be a welcoming presence for students to come to with questions, broken chromebooks, funny stories, requests for book recommendations, worries, or to tell me something they accomplished that they're proud of. I want to provide library experiences that are educational, challenging, enriching, entertaining, that make students here really think about the world around them, and more than anything that encourage students to love reading.
I'm originally from just down the road in northwest Georgia, I've lived in Chattanooga for about 3 years, and I started my career as a librarian here in town at UTC Library. My parents and grandparents live nearby, and during the summer and fall I do my best to time my visits so I can catch a Braves game with them. I love to travel, and a few of my favorite places I've visited are the Al Corniche Waterfront in Doha, Qatar, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, Angkor Wat in Cambodia (pictured), and Zion and Bryce National Parks in Utah. When I'm not here at the library or off somewhere exploring, you'll catch me working on a hairbrained craft project (crochet, sewing, watercolor, weaving, tie-dye, who knows what I'll get into next), holding full length conversations with my cats Frank and Gracie, or, of course, lounging somewhere with a book.
See you in the library!
