Athletics are an important part of any adolescent experience – from learning new physical skills and sportsmanship to simply enjoying the thrill of activity and competition. Many students play sports for the sheer love of the game. At East Ridge Middle School, on top of the thrill of competing and having fun with friends, students experience benefits that support their academic, social and emotional growth in middle school. Our coaches work together to ensure our students are performing in their academics and extracurricular activities.
The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association was established by the TSSAA Legislative Council in 1992 as an affiliate organization of TSSAA.
The middle school members have a committee of middle school administrators appointed to steer the organization and make recommendations for changes in their Bylaws to the Legislative Council. Final action on all recommendations submitted by the committee is made by the TSSAA Legislative Council.
