Learning to speak Chinese is a unique journey that involves using the mouth and facial muscles in ways that are quite different from speaking English. It’s a bit like a gymnast learning a brand new routine—mastery comes only with practice and repetition. Just as watching someone drive a car is not the same as actually getting behind the wheel, your child needs plenty of hands-on speaking practice to develop confidence and skill. Earning a driver’s license requires many hours of practice, and learning to speak Chinese fluently is no different. I encourage you to practice with your children at home as much as possible. Your support and participation make a tremendous difference in their progress!
