Google Classroom Cheatsheet

I was lucky enough to see that Mrs. Montgomery had found these on Facebook. We are all lucky that the creator made them free to use! I know this doesn't cover everything, but it is a good starting place and below these I will be adding more as needed. You can email me questions as well to add to this site. Another resource is Google itself. Click here for the help center. Our district has provided help as well. Here and Here.

# 1 Problem

When students are having trouble opening assignments, getting into Classroom, or other applications, it is USUALLY because they have not signed out of ALL their/or their parents Google accounts. The video attached to the image is one you can direct students to on my resource page that shows how to log in, and is here for you as well.

Google Forms/Quiz Issues

  • The quiz must be the only attachment on the assignment.

  • Students are limited to 1 response.

  • Students must be in the same domain as you. (meaning they can't take the quiz using personal gmail account)

  • Student email addresses must be collected. (very important!!)

  • If creating this quiz through forms prior to going to Google Classroom then under setting you must select quiz option, if creating this from within Google Classroom it will do this automatically

If you change any of these settings after you save or post the assignment, grade importing might be disabled and you might not be able to import grades.

All of these criteria can be seen when you go to the gear/settings icon.

Also I recommend that your first question always be for the student to put their name. It can save you headaches later if there does end up being a problem with your quiz.

Controlling the Stream in Google Classroom

To monitor multiple classes at once. Split up your screen. Thanks J. Harbin for the idea!

To do this go to gear at top right. Choose "Comment Only" to keep students from starting new topics. Also you can turn off classwork within the stream to keep traffic down. I would start a new topic each day on my stream called "Happy Office Hours! Please direct any questions today in the comment section below only. If you have questions outside of office hours please email me directly."
