The choral program at Perry High School is directed by Mrs. Joy Dumas, a 26 year veteran teacher. The goal of our program is to foster independent musicianship in our students, allowing them to take what they learn into their adult lives for a lifetime of successful music making. We also have a strong emphasis on exposing students to various types of choral music, widening their musical palate.

Why should I join chorus?
Singing in chorus uniquely connects you to other people. You will become part of our choral "family," and we will foster your growth as a musician from wherever you're starting.
But I can’t sing! I've never been in chorus!
Everyone has to start somewhere. Even if you have no singing experience, you can still join – we will teach you how and you can have fun doing it! Many students in chorus have never sung before this year!

Honor Choir
2025
We have 4 choirs at Perry High School in 2025-2026: Bel Canto, Panther Voices, Mirinesse and Chorale
All girls who are new to PHS chorus will be placed into Bel Canto. They may be added to Concert Choir or Chorale by completing a sight-reading audition with Mrs. Dumas.
Gentlemen will be split between Panther Voices and Chorale, with advanced men being placed in Chorale by completing a sight-reading audition with Mrs. Dumas.
All of our choirs work on building music reading and vocal skill. They all perform on concerts and are invited to participate in GMEA events when possible.
I've already done chorus, and I want to try new things in high school. I'm afraid that being in chorus will keep me from doing other activities.
Many members of the Perry High School Chorus are also involved in band, athletics, FCCLA, FBLA, FFA, ROTC and Drama. The teachers and coaches at PHS are awesome at working together to ensure that students can participate in multiple activities.
