YES! We would love to have your students come to the Media Center. You may want to bring them to work on a research project (we can pull books for you if you would like), check out books, print work to be turned in, or use the space for centers / group work.
If you would like to collaborate with Mrs. Flores on a project, please let her know! Also, Mrs. Flores can instruct your students in a technology lesson, such as how to format a document or share work with you. We can even instruct on email etiquette and digital citizenship!
Yes, please send no more than 5 at a time so that there will be enough space for other classes that may send students as well. Please make sure they have a Smart Pass BEFORE they leave the room.
We have a number of online resources available to students. You can access the passwords here. (You must be logged into your google account through the SSO for access.)
We laminate on Tuesday and Thursdays. Please bring your items by with your name somewhere on them (or on a sticky note) and place them on the counter by the door. Please remember that we cannot laminate anything over 24 inches wide.
Of course! Mrs. Flores would be glad to pull a cart of books on a topic, check them out to you and wheel the cart to your room! Just email us and we will get it together for you!
We do have a color printer in the Media Center. It is in the workroom behind the circulation desk. Simply bring your file saved as a pdf on a flash drive and you can print directly from the flash drive. Please limit color copies to a class set (30).
Yes. We have a poster printer. Mrs. Flores will be available to help you print on Mondays. Your file needs to be saved as a pdf on a flash drive. Please do not email a file to be printed. You must come and print the item yourself.
Yes. You can search Destiny, limiting the search to Video format. Destiny is available through the SSO portal. Or you can come browse the DVDs - they are in the back storage room.
If possible, give students the option of checking out a physical copy of the book, a digital copy of the book, or providing their own copy of the book.
State in your syllabus that students will be held responsible for lost class novels. ($10)
When you need a class set of a novel, complete the form request at least 3 school days prior to the date you will need it. Include the title of the novel, the number you will need, the date you will bring your students to pick them up, when it needs to be due, and attach a pdf of your student rosters that include the student ID numbers.
Bring your classes to the Media Center to check out their class novel. We will ONLY check out a novel to a student who is standing in front of us – this will help decrease the books that are checked out to students who transfer before the books are given out.
When you are finished with the novel, students are to return the book to the Media Center themselves. This takes out the excuse of “I gave it to my teacher.” You can bring them as a class to turn in their books.
Have something to announce? Please follow these procedures to get your information on social media, the televisions in the lobby, or on the website!
Email courtney.flores@hcbe.net and include the dates, the information, and pictures. Please write your announcement exactly as it needs to be posted and either include pictures or create a graphic (Canva.com is a great resource for making graphics!) If you are including pictures of students, please make sure that they did not opt-out of having their image on social media.
You will have the following options as to where you want your information posted: Announcements, Website, TV Screens in lobby and cafeteria, NHS Marquee sign, Facebook, Instagram. Please note where you would like your announcement posted.
Try to troubleshoot by doing the following:
Make sure that the chromebook is charged (the chargers in your classroom should work with the student devices)
Try to reset the device by powerwashing it - sign out, press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift+r
If it still is not working, direct the student to the QR code distributed for Chromebook Help Ticket, or help them put in a help ticket at bit.ly/chromebookhelpticket
If a student has a broken screen, please help them put in a help ticket so I can call them to the library to give them a spare and collect their device to be repaired.
After completing some basic troubleshooting (making sure it is charged and powerwashing it), you need to put in a workorder through Incident IQ and wait for the tech to come by your room to get it.
Go to Incident IQ and click New ticket
Choose Devices and enter the barcode on the back of the chromebook
Choose the issue / provide any explanation needed
Be sure to check that it does not include student secure data
Submit the ticket
