SJC REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY BIBLICAL VOTING RECOMMENDATIONS
If we do not list local Candidates it is because we do not have enough information to make a recommendation.
The bill specifies that anti-hate speech training must "provide supervisors and employees with practical guidance on recognizing, reporting, and confronting workplace speech that vilifies, humiliates, or incites hatred against people based on the protected characteristics" listed under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). Those protected characteristics include race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, national origin, and others.
What does it mean to "vilify" a coworker? What workplace speech "humiliates" versus merely offends? The bill does not say. A Christian employee who states that marriage is the union of one man and one woman has, in the view of many legislators, done all three.
Consequently, the bill raises serious First Amendment concerns. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled there is no “hate speech” exception for free speech protections. By requiring employers to promote state-approved views on what constitutes “hate,” the law risks compelling speech in violation of constitutional principles.
Finally, the bill expands government overreach into private workplaces. With no clear standards, employers, especially small businesses, face greater compliance burdens, legal uncertainty, and potential lawsuits, disproportionately impacting those with limited resources or differing viewpoints.
Did You Know that May is Sex Ed for All Month?
Across the country, advocacy groups are pushing May as “Sex Ed for All Month.” This isn’t a loose awareness campaign, it’s a coordinated national effort driven by progressive organizations working together to expand this model of sex education into more schools, at younger ages.
These groups promote what they call a “comprehensive” and “rights-based” approach, meaning they frame sexuality as an inherent part of identity and emphasize that students have a right to access this information, often regardless of parental beliefs or values.

The Supreme Court blocked a California policy that kept parents in the dark about a child’s gender transition, reaffirming that parents, not the state, are the “primary protectors of their children’s best interests.”
While there is active "pro-life" advocacy (such as the California March for Life held in March 2026), the focus has shifted. Rather than proposing abortion bans that have no chance of passing the Democratic-controlled legislature, advocates are focusing on "life-affirming" bills, such as:
AB 1628 & AB 2073: These bills aim to strengthen California’s Safe Surrender laws, which allow parents to safely and anonymously leave newborns at designated locations without fear of prosecution.
Instead of restrictions, the legislature is passing laws to protect providers from out-of-state legal reach:
AB 1854: Introduced to prevent California businesses and law enforcement from complying with out-of-state subpoenas or investigations related to abortion care.
AB 54 (Access to Safe Abortion Care Act): Reaffirms the legality of mailing and transporting medication abortion (mifepristone and misoprostol) and protects providers from civil or criminal liability.
SB 106: Governor Newsom recently signed this to provide $90 million in emergency funding for Planned Parenthood and other clinics to offset federal funding cuts.
Andrew Wommack recently shared a legislative movement that has been initiated in Colorado to end abortion. His email included this resource. Click on the picture below to access the resource. It is comprehensive and one of the best.
Currently there is no significant anti-abortion legislation moving forward in California. In fact, the state's legislative landscape is doing the exact opposite—California is doubling down on its status as a "sanctuary state" for reproductive rights .
