June 30th - The Road Back (below) was sent out to school districts by the NJ Department of Education to guide the process. Hazlet Admistrators were asked to begin to develop reopening procedures to be discussed at our July 9th meeting.
July 2nd - The NJPSA hosted a Restart and Recovery Essentials webinar (below) for school administrators.
July 9th - The District Management Team met in person to discuss the Restart and Recovery plan. This Restart and Recovery Plan provides educators and administrators with the information necessary to ensure that our schools reopen safely and are prepared to accommodate students’ unique needs during this unprecedented time. The Plan presents guidance related to four key subject areas: 1. Conditions for Learning 2. Leadership and Planning 3. Policy and Funding 4. Continuity of Learning. The district is establising a Restart Committee consisting of the following (below) that will be meeting on July 16th.
• District and school-level administrators
• BOE Members
• Presidents/designees of local associations
• Content experts [Nurse, School Doctor]
• Educators [Teachers (9)]
• Parents [ Parents (6)]
• Students [ Students (6)]
• Reflect community diversity – those representing students with disabilities, ELL, and racial, ethnic, socioeconomic diversity
July 9th - The district's Parent Survey was sent out. The survey must be submitted by July 15th.
A staff survey will be sent shortly.
Each school will be developing a Pandemic Response Team. RVS currently has a crisis team in place that has many of the same members.
Pandemic Response Team will be comprised of, at a minimum, the following members,
* School principal or lead person
* Teachers
* Child Study Team member
* School Counselor or mental health expert
* Subject Area Chairperson/Director
* School Nurse
* Teachers representing each grade band served by the district
* School safety personnel
* Members of the school safety team
* Custodian
* Parents
The Pandemic Response Team is responsible for:
* Overseeing each school’s implementation of the district’s reopening plan, particularly health and safety measures, and providing safety and crisis leadership.
* Adjusting or amending school health and safety protocols as needed.
* Providing staff with needed support and training.
* Reviewing school level data regarding health and safety measures and the presence of COVID19 and reporting that data to the district as required.
* Developing and implementing procedures to foster and maintain safe and supportive school climates as necessitated by the challenges posted by COVID-19.
* Providing necessary communications to the school community and to the district.
* Creating pathways for community, family, and student voices to continuously inform the Team’s decision-making.
July 13th The Restart committee personnel less parents, BOE members, teachers and students met to discuss the target areas (Conditions for learning, leadership and planning, policy and funding and continuity of learning) of the States Road to Recovery plan.
The district sent a survey to the staff of Hazlet Township Public Schools.
July 16th the Restart Committee consisting of BOE members, Administrators, Teachers and Staff, Parents and Students met today in person in the RHS gymnasium to beging creating a plan to reopen Hazlet Schools.

RVS will hold it's 1st Pandemic Response Team meeting on July 27th. The team members are John Verderosa (Principal) Jacqueline Hafner (Director of Special Services) Chantal Molino (Supervisor of Special Services) Kristen Iannello, Julia Barnes, Terri Kahrer, Meghan Reilly (Teachers), Tabitha Pizanie (Behaviorist), Stacy Esposito (Nurse) and Maryann Warren (Parent).
