Social Studies
Unit 1: Social Studies Skills
In this unit, students will understand that social studies skills enable learners to apply the concept of time, location, distance, relationships and points of view to the study of people, places, events, and issues
Unit 2: Citizenship
Students will look at the rights and responsibilities of citizens as well as government leaders. Students will learn similarities and differences between the governments of a community, state and country.
Unit 3: United States and New Jersey History
In this unit, students will continue to learn about the history of the United States and New Jersey through the study of family and community life. Students will also become aware of the many cultural traditions and heritages that contribute to the diversity of this country.
Unit 4: Economics
In this unit, students will develop an understanding of key economic principles. They will learn about responsible citizenship and the roles of the consumer, producer, saver, and investor.
Unit 5: Geography
In this unit, students will apply understanding of spatial relationships and other geographic skills to understand human behavior in relation to the physical and cultural environment.
