Who Are We?

Mr. Parr is Jana's School Counselor and Mrs. Brittany Taussig is Jana's Behavior Interventionist

We are both so excited to partner with students, teachers, and parents to help support social, emotional, and behavior needs at Jana Elementary!

What Do We Do?

Mr. Parr provides social and emotional support for students by focusing on student's feeling and emotions.

Services Mr. Parr provides:

  • Helps student's apply academic achievement strategies

  • Teaches students to manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills

  • Individual student academic planning and goal setting

  • Monthly school counseling guidance lessons

  • Individual counseling

  • Small group counseling

  • Social Skills Groups

  • Referrals for long-term support

  • Collaboration with families/teachers/ administrators/ community for student success

  • Advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings

  • Coordinates all of Jana's Student Support Team (SST) meetings

  • Participates in IEP/504 plan support team meetings

  • Data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges

  • Monitors Tier 1 Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Mrs. Taussig provides behavior supports for students for focusing on how student's express their emotions and feelings with the classroom. She often supports teachers with individual student interventions and data collection.

Services Mrs. Taussig provides:

  • Helps students come up with appropriate replacement behaviors to take the place of challenging behaviors that inhibit their ability to learn and progress academically.

  • Individual social skills groups

  • Small group social skills groups

  • One-on-one behavior support to help a student de-escalate and regulate their behavior

  • Writes individual building plans

  • Conducts functional behavior assessments and functional analyses

  • Develops and monitor functionally- based tier 2 and tier 3 intervention plans

  • Consult with classroom teachers and staff regarding programming, behavior issues and specific methods to be used with individual students.

  • Participates in Student Support Team (SST) meetings

  • Data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges
