About Ms. Judy
In the classroom, my mission is to promote curiosity for learning, engage critical thinking, and encourage risk-taking. I believe that this will create students who are confident, yet willing to make and learn from mistakes, and who are, therefore, focused on growing.
Teacher Life
I taught for 5 years in Jackson County, NC, before coming to Pisgah High School in 2004. I have been here since and hope to stay - Go BEARS!
I started teaching Theatre Arts in 2007, I think. I am proud of the fact that we have maintained our program through many difficult periods and through education changes and cuts.Â
Education
I attended A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, NC.
I attended UNC-Greensboro and University of Hull for undergraduate study for a Bachelors of Arts in English Education.
I have taken graduate courses through UNC-CH.
I attended BRCC for an Associates of Fine Arts in Theatre.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Secondary English.
Hobbies
Being a theatre teacher means I have way too many hobbies - I am the Jack-of-all-Trades master of none kind of hobbyist because of necessity. But every year I pick up a new skill or refine a skill so I am better at it than before.
