Coaching Staff

Coach Rich has been coaching and teaching in Texas since 2004 after graduating from Northwestern State University in Louisiana where he played football.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance as well as a minor in Biology.  In 2011 he completed his graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.  He is married to his lovely wife Katie and they have two amazing children.  When not at school he enjoys spending as much time with his family as possible.  They enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities from music festivals to beach activities.  He believes that physical and mental fitness coupled with proper nutrition is the foundation of a happy and productive life and he is excited to be involved in the development of those traits within the McCormick community to help foster the healthiest environment possible for all involved.  This year, he teaches web design and coaches football and track & field.

Coach Wylie was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and moved to California when she was 7 years old. Eventually she moved to Arizona and later attended Arizona State University where  she earned her degree in Biological Sciences. She competed on the ASU's Women's Rugby Team, even fulfilling a leadership role as Team President. Coach Wylie considers herself a life long athlete, always trying to be her best and supporting others to do the same for themselves. In her free time she enjoys working out, trying new food and restaurants, travel and spending time with her boyfriend and dog. This year she will be coaching Track and  8th grade girls Soccer. 

Coach Crayton is from Corpus Christ and graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi with a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She played Division I College Volleyball at Texas State and has coached club volleyball for the past 14 years. She teaches P.E. and coaches 8th grade Volleyball, Basketball and 7th and 8th grade Track. She is married and has a 8 year old daughter.  In her spare time, she plays lots of sand volleyball and enjoys hanging out with her family. 

Coach Clewell (formerly Costello) teaches journalism, photography, coding, and web design at McCormick.  She is also our yearbook advisor and cross country and tennis coach.  A Texas State alumni, Coach Clewell graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English in 2008, and again with her Master's degree in Educational Technology in 2013.  She is an avid runner and regularly competes in running events and endurance races.  Her favorite distance is 13.1 miles and she looks forward to running at least one half marathon every year.  Coach Clewell loves animals (especially exotics) and currently shares her home with her husband, two big dogs, two cats, hedgehog, and chinchilla with plans for more animals soon! 

Coach Bass has been coaching middle school for 4 years (Cross Country & Tennis). Coach Bass received a Multidisciplinary Studies Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University.

Born and raised in Granbury Texas. Going into my second full year of teaching and coaching. I enjoy chess, trivia and card games. In the summers I like going hiking and making my way to a beach. 


Coach Smith was born and raised in Coppell, TX and played a variety of sports growing up. Starting in high school, she transitioned from playing basketball and volleyball to coaching. She studied Philosophy and Education at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. She loves traveling, sports, and dogs. This fall she is getting a bernedoodle who will be named Swish, after a service dog sponsored by the Dallas Mavericks. She recently moved to Kyle with her husband and is excited to begin teaching and coaching at McCormick.
