Mrs. Brettner has been teaching at Elementary South for 5 years. She has her masters in Elementary Education. Mrs. Brettner has 2 kids that are 10 & 12 and a dog named Hooper. Her husband is also a teacher at Vernon Hills H.S. She enjoys reading, coach basketball, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Preston has been teaching 3rd grade at Hawthorn Elementary South for 21 years. Prior to that she taught first grade for 5 years in another district. She has a 15 year old son and a cat named Kitty. Mr. Preston is a middle school math teacher. She enjoys biking, hiking, reading, baking, drinking coffee and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Arenson has been teaching at Elementary South for 13 years in both 2nd and 3rd grade. She has three daughters, a set of twins and a baby born March 2020. She also has two dogs named Marbles and Pebbles. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, biking, walking, reading, drinking coffee, and listening to audio books.

Mrs. Rayl has been teaching in the Hawthorn 73 district for 30 years in 1st, 2nd and now 3rd grade. She has 2 sons in their 20's who went through Hawthorn and graduated from Vernon Hills High School. She and her husband enjoy walking, biking, watching sports and she loves reading and cooking.

This is Miss Robinson's second year teaching at Hawthorn Elementary South. She recieved her B.A. in elementary eduation from the University of Kentucky. She likes to spend time with friends and family, play with her dog Zeus, read, and go on runs!

This is Mrs. Young's 14th year teaching. She has taught in three different districts and in two states. This will be her fourth year in the roll as an ELL teacher. She is 9 months pregnant with her first child and very excited to become a mother. She loves spending time with her husband and black lab named Ruger.

This is Ms. Sommers' first year of teaching at Hawthorn Elementary South. She received her degree at Trinity International University. She loves to spend time with her family and friends watching movies, playing games, and having fun! She has two older sisters who are also teachers!

Mrs. Goldberg has been an instructional assistant in the Hawthorn district for 20 years including eight years at Hawthorn Elementary North and 12 years at Hawthorn Elementary South. She is married and has a son, daughter-in-law and a Australian Labradoodle named Mayzee. She enjoys taking long walks/jogs early in the morning, shopping online and spending time with her family.

Mrs Udani has experience working with students of different ages for over 22 years and this is her 6th year at Hawthorn South. She has 2 sons who are 16 and 12 years old. She enjoys walking, cooking, and traveling with her family and binge watching Netflix.
