Intro to Design

Introduction

I signed up for this course because I love 3d printing and woodworking

I really want to learn how to design better

I want to be a engineer when I'm older

I have a 3d printer at home and I have experience in a woodshop

I like Takashi Murakami because of his style of art.

Sketch Book

These are some of my first sketchs from the first and second week of school. My favorite one to design was the cover for my sketchbook since it pushed me to write my name in diferent ways even if it didn't look right

Daily Design - Circles

We started off making a circle above the paper but not actually drawing anything until we got the shape right. After we practiced a bunch we made designs in the circles. I never knew how to ghost draw before and it was a really cool way to draw nice circles.

This is all of the circles and designs I made.

16 Types of One Letter

We were given a paper with outlines 16 different times. We had to choose one letter and draw it 16 different times. It made me really think of ways to write a letter I write all the time.

Initial Logo Design

I didn't realize how hard it would be to make art out of letters I write every day. After about 10 I really started having trouble but this taught me to flip or rotate letters around even if it didn't look right at first.

This all of the logos I came up with.

These are my four favorites drawn a little better.

This is my overall favorite one since it merges both the A and F very nice.

Logo Sketches

We started our next unit where we are making a logo that can repersent ourselves and we'll eventually make them into digital and physical copies.

These are just a bunch of ideas for logos. I combined things we like with my intials.

Here is more of my first round of ideas.

This is my favorite one. I like it because it incorperates my initalls and a fishing hook since I love fishing.

Adobe Illustrator Part 2B

We are learning how to use illustrator and discovering all the different tools that come with it.

This was my first time using the app. At first it was a little tricky but once you understand it, it's really fun to use.

Fab Illustrator Key Chain

As we are continuing to learn how to use Adobe we are also learning how to use the laser cutter.

This is the laser cut version of my nametag. At first the keyhole was to close to the edge and would break very easily, but I modified it to make it perfect.

We chose a font in adobe and shaped it to our liking. The red lines mean that it is going to be cut in the laser cutter and the grey and black are going to be etched into the wood.
