Introduction

I signed up for this course because I wanted to try something something new. The visual art classes I've taken in school have always either been drawing or painting, so I thought I'd give design and fabrication a try.
One thing I'd really like to learn how to do in this course is use the laser cutter.
One thing I can share that may spark an idea for any future connections would be that I like to code and can somewhat create a website.
I'm pretty good at picking up from where ever and just following along with my peers in class if I missed something.
I like shoes so maybe like Michael Jordan is a pretty good designer and his shoes are found worldwide. www.nike.com/w/jordan-shoes-37eefzy7ok

Sketch Book

These are early sketches from the first and second week of school. These drawings include the cover showcased on the front of my sketchbook, a floor plan of the Fab Lab, and a bird's eye view of Hawken's Upper School campus. The drawing of the Fab Lab was my favorie because it showed me to look at whats around me and how to scale it down into the size of what im drawing on.

Daily Design - Circles

For this activity, we started with ghosting hand movements to practice creating circles without worrying about making them perfect. As we continued, we focused more on control, consistency, and how small changes in size, spacing, and placement would change the overall design. By our final sketches, I had a better understanding of how repitition and precision can turn a simple shape like a circle into a more intentional design.

Initials Sketches

These are early design sketches of my initials, focusing on how the letters can overlap to create one shape. I experimented with curved and straight lines to make the design feel more unique while still keeping my initials recognizable. This helped me practice turning simple letters into a more create design.

Logo Design

Adobe Illustrator - Keychain

For this project I used Adobe Illustrator to design a custom keychain. I first practiced creating and editing shapes, working with layers, and paying attention to the placement and details of each element then moved onto the laser cutter to actually make the keychain. This project helped me understand how a digital design can be turned into a physical object while still keeping the design clean.

Adobe Illustrator - Name Stand

For this project, I used Adobe Illustrator to design a personalized name stand that could be laser cut into a physical piece. I used grid dimensions to create the name stand and tabs. This was my second project using the laser setting up and using the laser cutter.
