Hawaiʻi Green Growth UN Local2030 Hub

Hawaiʻi Green Growth UN Local2030 Hub (HGG) is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization, and encompasses our local Hawaiʻi Green Growth network and activities along with our global efforts via the Local2030 Islands Network.

While Hawai‘i is on the frontlines of climate change experiencing sea-level rise, an increase in natural disaster risk and biodiversity loss, Hawai‘i and islands are laboratories for sustainability solutions that cut across economic, environment and social sectors. As the first island and Pacific Local2030 Hub designated by the United Nations in November 2018, we join an innovative network that brings together the United Nations (UN) system, local actors, and national governments to collaboratively implement solutions that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. HGG is comprised of Hawaiʻi-based organizations working to achieve the Aloha+ Challenge: He Hohana ʻAeʻoia, Hawaiʻi's local plan for the SDGs.

Aloha+ Challenge

The Aloha+ Challenge is a statewide public-private commitment to achieve Hawaiʻi's social, economic, and environmental goals by 2030.

Launched in 2014, the Aloha+ Challenge identified six priority goals and local metrics that are delivering against the global United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Hawaiʻi Green Growth UN Local 2030 Hub and partners are catalyzing island-led solutions to drive concrete action.

Aloha+ Challenge Dashboard

The Aloha+ Challenge Dashboard measures statewide progress and benchmark data on Hawaiʻi’s local SDGs and contribution to the global goals. The Dashboard tracks data across 6 priority areas, 35 targets, and over 230 datasets from federal, state, county, and community sources.
